Meeting with a Society & Identity Advisor:

Students in this Pathway, including Exploratory, are assigned to their advisor based on the major and the last two digits of their PSU ID number as listed below.  If you would like to request a different advisor than the one assigned to you, please fill out an Advisor Change Request form. If you change your major to a different pathway, your new advisor will be updated automatically within a week.

Use the links below to schedule a phone, virtual or in-person appointment. You will be required to sign in with your Odin account. If you cannot access the appointment scheduler, call our front desk at (503) 725-3822. For in-person appointments, please review PSU's current Mask Policy. Please note that if you have a pre-professional program, you should meet with that advisor, regardless of your major.

Students starting at PSU in a future term: You may either meet with a S&I Pathway advisor or Transfer/Returning Student advisor prior to your first term, but must participate in New Student Orientation in order to register for your first term classes. Transfer students should also check out our Transfer Guides!

For general questions, email sipathway@pdx.edu. Please do not use this email to request an appointment.

Pre-Education

Pre-Teacher Advising Guide

PSU does not have an education major. Students must earn a bachelors degree and complete the prerequisites to apply to the PSU Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP). GTEP allows students to earn a master's degree in 12 months, while also earning a teaching license. Students should know the age group and subject you want to teach in order to pick a major.

Pre-Elementary Education (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)

Students can choose any major at PSU.  Work with the advisor for your chosen major.

  • For information on Bilingual Teacher Program admissions and teacher licensing, contact Tatiana Nochevnaya, Admissions Advisor and Recruiter, Bilingual Teacher Pathway

Pre-Secondary Education (6th Grade through 12th Grade)

Middle and high school teachers must major in the subject they want to teach. Find the majors that match up with the teaching subjects in our Pre-Teacher Advising Guide.
