Advising

Fulfilling Politics and Global Affairs major/minor requirements and making decisions about your future requires planning and consultation with an Advisor. Academic advisors and faculty members are available to students who need help with course scheduling, declaring a major, thinking about graduate education, and exploring career paths. If you are ever in doubt about something and wondering if you should meet with an Advisor, the answer is always "Yes!" Our faculty and academic Advisors love getting to know you and answering your questions! Whether in person, by phone or virtually, schedule your appointment today!

Pre-Law Advising

The process of applying to law school can be complex and, at times, bewildering.  The Pre-Law Advising page will hopefully offer you guidance and information necessary to make the process go as smoothly as possible.

When Should I Meet with an Advisor?

New and Transfer Students

Freshmen and transfer students must participate in New Student Orientation in order to register for your first term classes. New must meet with an Academic Advisor by the end of their first year at PSU in order to be cleared to register for their fourth academic term. Transfer students with 45 or more credits must schedule a meeting with an Academic Advisor by the end of their first term at PSU.

Returning and Continuing Students

Sophomores and Continuing students who declare their major in Politics and Global Affairs are encouraged to have at least one meeting with an Academic Advisor every academic year to make sure they are on track with their degree progress. See an Academic Advisor for questions about curriculum, course offerings, general education requirements, transfer credits, and other academic questions.

See a Politics and Global Affairs faculty member to talk about careers, graduate school, and what to do after graduation.

Internship Advising

Students interested in an internship for credit can meet with Prof. Richard Clucas, the department's Internship Coordinator, to talk about ideas and available opportunities. Find out more about internships here!
