Spring people
  1. Talya Bauer and Berrin Erdogan, Business faculty, had their research discussed in the article “Why Businesses Should Strive for a More Relaxing Interview Process,” published May 9 in Forbes India.
  2. Shirley A. Jackson, Sociology faculty, had research on “Black Perceptions of Portland’s Protests, People, and Progressive Politics” cited in the article, “Breaking New Ground in Racial Justice Research” May 10 in PSU News.  
  3. Matt Kaufman, Business faculty, had a 2022 paper, “Stakeholder Engagement and Effective Standard Setting” that received the Best Paper award for a paper published in Accounting Horizons. 
  4. Mary Marshall, Business faculty, was elected to a three-year term as the Accounting Behavior and Organizations Council Representative for the American Accounting Association.
  5. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, led a two-day workshop on “Decolonizing Public Health Futures” for Portland area high school students as part of PSU's Global Diversity & Inclusion office inaugural Imagine College summer program.
  6. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, co-launched the “Public Health and Civic Leadership Academy.”
  7. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, served as an invited workshop panelist for the “Bodies, Health and Environments Unconference” at Temple University's Center for Sustainable Solutions.
  8. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, served as an invited panelist for a symposia, “Politics and Power: How Structural Racism Shapes Health Inequities,” at the 2023 Society for Epidemiologic Research conference.
  9. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, served as an invited workshop panelist for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Roundtable on Population Health Improvement: “The Ecosystem of Health Equity Measures."
  10. Ryan Petteway, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, was appointed to the External Research Advisory Group for the American Medical Association's Center for Health Equity.

  16. Eric Manuel Rodriguez, University Honors faculty, discussed linguistic justice and the writing classroom June 15 at the California State University, Fullerton English Department’s Language Policy Ally Workshop series.
  17. Diana Schutz, English faculty, was honored with a Will Eisner Hall of Fame Award for her career at San Diego Comic Con as well as an Eisner award for her work translating the acclaimed comic “Blacksad.”
  18. Alex Stepick, Sociology faculty, co-hosted a two-hour panel, “Immigrants and the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Portland Metro Area,” with presentations from numerous community-based immigrant-serving organizations, the head of the State of Oregon’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Advancement, and a representative from the consortium of local philanthropies involved in supporting immigrants.
  19. Alex Stepick, Sociology faculty, appeared in an upcoming four-hour documentary series, tentatively titled “Great Migrations,” about movements of African Americans from the South to the North and West between the 1910s and 1970, set to be broadcast on PBS in fall 2024.
