Cinematographers are responsible for the look of a movie—but what does that mean, exactly? In this two-hour Movie Madness University class, we’ll dig deep into this key role and introduce practical vocabulary related to the field of cinematography. We’ll consider examples from classic and contemporary films and dissect why cinematographers made the choices they did. Students will leave with a greater appreciation for this important role and a deeper understanding of the visual language of film.

This class will be taught by MMU instructor Kia Anne Geraths, a filmmaker and educator. Her previous classes include the Cult Horror series, Intro to Varda, Science Fiction B-movies, and more.
Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.

Please note: no food or beverage is permitted in the auditorium.
