Join us on a journey through the life and art of Sir Christopher Nolan, the Academy Award-winning director of OPPENHEIMER (2023), the DARK KNIGHT trilogy (2005-2012), INCEPTION (2010), and INTERSTELLAR (2014) as well as THE ODYSSEY (2026).

After blowing minds and bending conventions with MEMENTO (2000), Nolan ascended to the rank of Hollywood auteur, buoyed by his elegant manipulation of time and his steadfast championing of IMAX film. But who is he, really? And what convictions define his work? This class will explore the Nolan Tenets: the principles, beliefs, and ideas that are the essence of his films.

This 2-hour deep drive will be taught by film critic Bennett Campbell Ferguson, founder and editor of foolswhodreammovies.com and the co-president of the Portland Critics Association. He previously served as the movies editor for Willamette Week and has also written for Oregon ArtsWatch and The Oregonian.

Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.

PSU Students are free with valid student ID! Present ID at door for admission - no ticket needed.
