From early innovations in color and sound, to the 3-D and widescreen explosion of the 50’s; the gimmickry of Williams Castle (“Emergo” and “Illusion-O”) and John Waters’ smelly scratch cards; the sonic pounding of Sensurround and Dolby THX, up through today’s resurgence of 70mm film projection. Discover which technologies were simply fads, and which changed film language forever.This 3-hour deep dive will be taught by director-writer Jack Perez, a professor of film at USC, PCC, CCC, The NY Film Academy, and The Academy of Art in SF. He is also the creator of the popular YouTube Premium Channel, CINEFIX.
