Movie Madness University at PSU Presents "Cinematic Immersion"

Explore the exciting world of cinematic enhancement - brave new tech designed to draw crowds and deepen the drama. From early innovations in color and sound, to the 3-D and widescreen explosion of the 50’s; the gimmickry of Williams Castle (“Emergo” and “Illusion-O”) and John Waters’ smelly scratch cards; the sonic pounding of Sensurround and Dolby THX, up through today’s resurgence of 70mm film projection. Discover which technologies were simply fads, and which changed film language forever.

This 3-hour deep dive will be taught by director-writer Jack Perez, a professor of film at USC, PCC, CCC, The NY Film Academy, and The Academy of Art in SF. He is also the creator of the popular YouTube Premium Channel, CINEFIX. Jack currently lives in Portland with his wife and 4 cats.

Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.
