Community Sing

Thursday November 10th 2022 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Join Coty Raven Morris, the Visiting Professor of Choir, Music Education and Social Justice in the School of Music & Theater, and members of the PSU Choirs at this Community Sing event. Community Sings are an opportunity for students to create fellowship through music by learning a selection of songs by rote, accompanied by piano, percussion and a company of voices. No preparation is needed, and all are welcome.

"With the support of my colleague Ethan Sperry and the PSU Foundation, I have spent the past year engaging with the community and learning about the wonderful projects and organizations that work toward a better PSU and Greater Portland," Morris said. "My position as the Hinckley Visiting Professor of Choir, Music Education, and Social Justice creates an opportunity to bring Choral music to marginalized and underserved populations in and outside of our campus."

The Community Sing on November 10 is the official kickoff to the Choir for Houseless Communities Initiative, a pilot project led by Morris, to bring music education to organizations serving vulnerable populations in the greater Portland area.
