Day Camps

 

Little Vikings provides day camps for days when Portland Public Schools does not have school, but classes are still in session at PSU, including spring break and summer term. Visit our Rates page for day camp fees. Daily and Camp Day Rates are available during Helen Gordon Child Development Center and Portland Public Schools closures.  Day camp rates are only available to children ages 3-12. Although children under three can reserve care on camp days, there is not a special rate for Infants and Toddlers and parents will be charged by the hour.

Below is a sample of activities planned during a typical camp week

Day 1: our children will be having a visit from Dr. David, at 1:00 pm Dr. David will be talking to the children about teeth care and why we should be taking care of our teeth.  Along with our special guest, we will have planned activities such as an egg experiment that will show the children the importance of teeth care.

Day 2:  PSU’s CPSO will come to Little Vikings talk to our children about how the y keep our campus safe, they will also show the importance to have a vehicle on campus. The children will also be creating their own police car out of card board boxes and pretending to be detectives while creating their own fingerprint kit.

Day 3:  Little Vikings will be taking a walking trip to Fire Station 4; the children will be taking a tour of the fire station, learning about the equipment they use to fight fires, and sitting in their fire truck.  Along with our trip to the fire station, the children will learn about fire safety.

Day 4:  the children will be taking a walk to the Portland Art Museum where they will learn about the Artist and the art they have created by a guided tour. After the trip to the art museum, we will be finding our own inspiration and leaning about Abstract art, creating art with shapes and collages.

Day 5:  the children will be taking a trip to the Smith Student Union where they will have a great time bowling. Bowling will be from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

Throughout the week we take our infants on walks  throughout campus, enjoying sensory play activities and taking a trip to the central public library for story time
