Shifting Systems with Transdisciplinary Community-Based Participatory Research
Systems change is complex and can be overwhelming, especially as, often, “the harder you push, harder the system pushes back.” Systems thinking offers tools to understand and manage that complexity and to generate deep change. Using examples from Dr. Raymaker’s 20 years of intentional systems change in the field of autism research, they will demonstrate how taking a transdisciplinary approach, engaging in feedback thinking, identifying leverage, and harnessing the power of emancipatory action research can generate large-scale social change. At the end, Dr. Raymaker will encourage attendees to think about how they might apply these systems science tools to their own areas of interest.
