Farm-to-Table Program

Come join the social "Farm to Table" movement which promotes using seasonal foods and pairing them with local wines and ciders. 

Portland is the perfect place to learn about the history of the movement and experience it first hand. We are known for our coffee, food, beer, cider and wine culture. The Portland State University Farmers Market was named the best farmers market in the United States for its size and variety of local products. Experience buying and tasting locally grown produce and food that is prepared authentically!

Portland sits in the Willamette Valley and is surrounded by nature, iconic sceneries and beautiful vineyards. The combination of our cool climate and volcanic soil result in the production of world-class wines, such as the Pinot Noir. Experience the taste of Pinot Noir and other local wines in Urban tasting rooms and when visiting the vineyards!

Class activities & Field Trips

  • English language classes with authentic materials all related to the farm-to-table movement and wine!
  • Urban winery & tasting room visits
  • Local supermarket visits to learn more about the local wine and food market
  • Winery tours and tastings in the Willamette Valley
  • Stay in the historic Columbia Gorge and in Oregon's wine region
  • Experience professional food & wine pairings at gastronomy restaurants

Program Fees

  • Total Estimated price: USD 4,600 (classes, tasting, visiting, and tours)
    • Program Fee*: USD $3,690
    • Estimated Hotel cost**: USD $910
  • Price does not include meals. All the food & wine pairing activities in the restaurants would be out-of-pocket payments and participation is not mandatory but recommended. 
  • Prices do not include air tickets or travel insurance. 
  • Final payment deadline: August 18, 2024

*Pays for classes and transportation related to all activities on the program calendar

*Pays for shared hotel rooms for 13 nights (hotel costs must be paid on site)

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

  • You must be at least 21 years old to join the program. The legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21.

Deadline AND NOTIFICATIONS

  • You must apply by June 29th.
  • A 2.75% credit card processing fee will be applied to all credit card payments.

Cancellation and refund policy

  • The program fee includes a $120 non-refundable application fee.
  • If you cancel 30+ days prior to the program start date, you will receive a full refund of the program fee minus the $120 non-refundable application fee. You will not be refunded the housing fee.
  • If you cancel between the 30 and 14 days prior to the start of the program, you will be refunded 50% of the program fee minus the $120 non-refundable application fee. You will not be refunded the housing fee.
  • If you cancel within 14 days prior to the program, you will be refunded 33% of the program fee minus the $120 non-refundable application fee. You will not be refunded the housing fee.
  • Once the program has started there will be no refunds.
  • If PSU has to cancel the program for any reason before the start date you will receive a full refund.
