College and University Programs

Custom programs for colleges and universities:

These programs typically last 1-4 weeks and can include dormstay, homestay, or staying at a hotel. Programs usually fit one of four standard types:

Typical Custom Programs

English Language & American Culture Programs
- Morning English Communication and American Culture classes
- Afternoon cultural / fun activities
English Language & Focus Topic Programs
- Morning English Communication class
- Afternoon special "Focus" topic class with related excursions / activities
Focus Topic Programs
- All classes and activities are related to a single theme and may or may not include English language instruction as needed
Visits / Excursion only Programs
- No English classes, but rather topic specific workshops, lectures and site visits
- Cultural and fun visits to explore Portland

Planning a custom program checklist:

We ask for at least 6 months notice to develop a new program in order to provide your group with an excellent experience.
We require a minimum of 10 students but recommend to run a program with 15 students or more to keep it cost effective for the participants.
Please let us know which type of program and focus areas you are interested in.
Preferred dates or times of year and any special request for accommodation type.

Example Activities

Medical Programs

Visit U.S. hospitals, medical schools and their simulation labs!

In our medical programs you can learn about how U.S. medical schools train their students, including through realistic practice such as their simulation lab where students can practice techniques.

Medical Programs

Our medical programs focus on differences between the U.S. and home countries in providing care. Students visit speciality providers such as children's hospitals, hospice centers and non-profits.

Social Entrepreneurship

Enterpreneurship participants spend the day at PSU's Business Accelerator department and speak with local start-up founders.

In our Social Entrepreneurship program, participants receive workshops focused on entrepreneurship & leadership. They also get the opportunity to visit local businesses and shadow a start-up!

Sustainability and Service-Learning / Volunteering Programs

We want all of our programs to include a focus on sustainability as something PSU and Portland are known for. The university motto is "Let Knowledge Serve the City" so we always try to volunteer too!
