Yumei Wang Joins CEE as Affiliate Faculty and Senior Advisor

Yumei Wang has joined CEE as an Affiliate Faculty and Senior Advisor on Infrastructure Risk and Resilience. Her work focuses on lowering risks from earthquakes, tsunamis, and landslides, and her current priorities include earthquake risk assessment of critical energy infrastructure, the design of North America’s first tsunami shelter, and efforts to implement innovative policies to manage catastrophic Cascadia earthquake risks.

Wang was formerly lead of the Geohazards team at the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI), for whom she worked for 26 years studying and developing resiliency strategies for the State of Oregon. She is an advisor for the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP), has served as a Congressional Fellow in the U.S. Senate in Washington DC, and has taken part in post-earthquake damage assessments from Chile, China, and Sumatra earthquakes/tsunamis. Wang delivered a talk and panel discussion at PSU in February 2019 as part of the Le Val Lund lecture series, titled "Disaster, Resilience, and the Next Generation".
