Currently Accolades: Grants for April 19, 2021

  1. Paula Carder, Institute on Aging and OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, received an 18-month contract for $469,000 from the Oregon Department of Human Services to survey all assisted living, residential care and memory care facilities, and a sample of adult foster homes in Oregon. 
  2. Staci B. Martin, social work, has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar to teach and do research at Chulalongkorn University’s Center for Social Development Studies’ Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in International Development Studies (MAIDS-GRID) and (Forced) Displacement and Development programs in Bangkok, Thailand. Martin will teach a series of seminars on peace-building, research methods, and youth and migration at Chulalongkorn University and in the Tham Hin refugee camp with the Suan Phueng host community. She will also co-research with these three partners, focusing on the role of hope and how our emotions contribute to peace-building, agency and action that impact Thailand’s youth. Her research will investigate how these issues specifically support the integration of refugee youth in Thai culture.
  3. Ozcan Tunalilar, urban studies and planning faculty, and Paula Carder, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, both affiliated with the Institute on Aging, received a grant for $200,472 from Oregon Department of Human Services to conduct a 20-month study on administrator turnover and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in assisted living facilities.
