Zapata leads research project on encampments along transportation routes

Dr. Marisa Zapata, Toulan School Associate Professor and Director of the PSU Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative, was awarded $350,000 to lead a research project funded by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) to develop a set of best practices for state transportation agencies to respond to temporary encampments on state transportation rights-of-way. 

The project team includes MURP student Maddy Poehlein, Urban Studies PhD alum Dr. Andree Tremoulet of Commonworks Consulting, and researchers from the PSU Transportation Research and Education Center.
