PSU’s annual Day of Giving is coming up on April 17–18. This year, the Tony Lamb Racial Justice Fellowship is one of the programs you can support with your donations.

The Tony Lamb Racial Justice Fellowship was created to commemorate the late Tony Lamb, a MURP alum whose passing in 2020 was keenly felt by the PSU and planning communities in Portland. It is connected with the Portland Planning Diversity Award Program in the sense that it supports promising MURP students both financially and with an internship opportunity. To continue Tony’s vision of support and advocacy for underrepresented communities, the fellowship places a MURP student from an underrepresented background specifically in a PPDA internship with a Black- or Indigenous-led organization that focuses on planning-related projects and racial justice in Portland. The Lamb Fellow also receives a $5000 cash scholarship.

The 2023/2024 Lamb Fellow is Omolara (Lara) Opeifa, a first-year MURP student. Her internship is through the Rosewood Initiative, an organization where Tony used to work. They work to “foster community building and be a resource for East Portlanders most impacted by systemic exclusion.” Previous Lamb Fellows were placed with Unite Oregon and Hacienda CDC.

You can help make a difference in your community by supporting students like Lara through donating to the Tony Lamb Racial Justice Fellowship this year. Simply navigate to the Day of Giving page on April 17–18 and select your desired amount. Your support is greatly appreciated!
