MURP Program to Undergo PAB Reaccreditation in 2026/27

This coming year, the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program will undergo reaccreditation with the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB), which is jointly governed by the American Planning Association (APA); APA’s American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP).

The MURP program most recently underwent reaccreditation in 2019/20, when it received a full 7-year accreditation, the longest term that a program can be awarded. The MURP program is one of 80 accredited master’s programs in planning in North America, and one of four in the Pacific Northwest.

As part of this process, MURP program faculty have recently completed a Self-Study Report, which compiles curricular, enrollment and faculty information, program outcome data, and a draft strategic plan that identifies program vision, goals and objectives for the next several years. MURP students, alumni and planning employers are encouraged to read and provide feedback - comments can be sent to Laura Ehrlich, USP Program Coordinator, at lehrlich@pdx.edu, by September 8th. 

The program will receive a site visit from PAB from November 2-4. Alumni will have the opportunity to actively participate and connect with the accreditation team. Additional details will be shared in the coming weeks. Based on the site visit team’s report and recommendations, the PAB will make its final re-accreditation decision at the 2027 APA National Planning Conference in April.
