Dr. Lauren E.M. Everett, 2022 Urban Studies PhD graduate, was recognized by the PSU Graduate School for Outstanding Dissertation in the Social Sciences in the preceding year. Her dissertation, “Fortunate People in a Fortunate Land: Dwelling and Residential Alienation in Santa Monica's Rent-Controlled Housing”, supervised by Dr. Sy Adler, studied the lived experience of residents of rent-controlled housing to examine the benefits both to households as well as to communities.
Since graduating, Dr. Everett has worked at Metro regional government as a Senior Housing Communications Specialist.
Dr. Everett was recognized as part of the 2023 PSU Research Week celebration event on Friday, May 12.
