About This Guide

The Guide to Marketing Campus Events was created by the Integrated Marketing and Communications Council (IMCC) events committee, a campus-wide group of 60+ marketing and communication professionals across PSU’s campus who collaborate to elevate the PSU brand and promote our university’s work.

Randy Mishler

Randy Mishler

Randy has been a part of Portland State’s Campus Events & Student Union (CESU) team since 2019. As the CESU marketing and communications coordinator, he promotes Smith Memorial Student Union, the Viking Pavilion at the Peter W. Stott Center events venue, University retail and the Portland State Box Office. Randy came to Portland State from a career in daily journalism and marketing. When not promoting others, he enjoys wandering the Pacific Northwest, painting, worrying about his kids and reading. 
 

Karen O'Donnell Stein

Karen O'Donnell Stein

Karen has been working at the intersection of communications, education and the arts throughout her career. With a bachelor's degree in Theater Arts from UC Santa Cruz, a master's degree in Strategic Communications from University of Oregon, and two decades of communications, public relations and marketing in the performing and visual arts, she brings passion and skills to her current role as marketing & communications manager at PSU's College of the Arts.

Prior to joining the College of the Arts, Karen worked as the Communications, Marketing & Recruitment Administrator in the School of Architecture. Before coming to PSU, she ran PR campaigns for performing arts companies at a boutique public relations firm in San Francisco, and for community festivals, indie rock bands and arts organizations in Portland. She lives in Portland with her family and their Pembroke Welsh corgi, Albert.

Amanda Gabriel-Landis

Amanda Gabriel-Landis

Amanda is the digital communications specialist for the Portland State University Foundation. She has over ten years of experience in events and marketing, including time within Portland State Athletics.

Hayley Lucich

Hayley Lucich

Hayley is the associate director of marketing for the PSU Alumni Association and PSU Foundation. Hayley has been at PSU since 2015 and leads marketing and digital strategy for alumni.

Cristina Rojas

Cristina Rojas

Cristina joined Portland State's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in January 2018. A former reporter from New Jersey, she enjoys telling the stories of our faculty, students and staff. In her role as communications manager, she works to elevate the reputation of PSU’s largest college through strategic communications, media relations and content development. She also works part-time in University Communications to support communications related to PSU’s racial justice and equity goals.

Andrew Tomsky

Andrew Tomsky

Andrew joined PSU in October 2021 as the Assistant Director for Communications in Enrollment Management. He manages all communications to prospective and admitted students and provides web support for admissions, campus visits, and student finance. He joined PSU after serving as the Communications Administrator for Greater Albany Public Schools and previously worked in collegiate athletics communications at universities including Fresno State, Sacramento State, and Northern Arizona. He holds a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of California, Davis and a Master's degree in applied communication from Northern Arizona University.

In addition to his full time role with PSU, Tomsky assists with gameday statistics for PSU football and basketball home games and serves on the stat crew for the Portland Trail Blazers. He lives in Happy Valley with his wife, Heather, daughter, Harper, and son, Trevor. 

Aaron Yoshino

Aaron Yoshino

Aaron came to Portland State University in 2018 from an academic career in film, multimedia journalism, and student organizations in Hawaii, where he was born and raised.  As marketing & revenue manager for PSU’s University Place Hotel & Conference Center, Aaron oversees the department’s marketing, revenue, and public relations efforts.  He also co-advised PSU’s Pacific Islanders Club and continues to support the university’s student service-focused endeavors.
