Student Transit Program

Public transit is the most popular mode of transportation for PSU students and employees.

Summer Term FlexPasses are no longer available for purchase.

Fall FlexPasses will go on sale September 20th.

TriMet Low-Income Fare Program

Individuals who earn up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level will qualify for the low-income program. Under current federal poverty guidelines, individuals earning an annual income up to $23,760 would qualify for the program, as would a family of four with earnings up to $48,600.

Those interested in the low-income fare must register and once their eligibility is confirmed, they will receive an Honored Citizen fare card. Participants will be able to purchase Adult Fare single use and day passes at half cost and Adult Fare month passes at a cost of 72-percent less than the price of a standard pass.

TriMet Student FlexPass Program

The Student FlexPass is a reduced-rate, quarterly transit pass that can be used throughout the region. Offered each academic quarter, the FlexPass is valid on all TriMet buses, MAX light rail trains, Portland Streetcars, C-Tran local service buses (non-Express), WES Commuter train, and the OHSU aerial tram. The Flexpass is valid for unlimited use during the 3-month service period, which overlaps with the PSU academic calendar. The cost of the FlexPass is 40% less than the TriMet standard monthly rate -- $174 per 3-month FlexPass compared to $100/month for TriMet public rate.

Please note: The Summer Term FlexPass is valid for 2 months only, at the same 40% discount for $116.

Purchasing a Student FlexPass

Purchasing the Student FlexPass must be done in person at Transportation & Parking Services. FlexPasses/Hop Fastpasses are available for sale on the 20th of September, December, March, and June. Sales for each academic term conclude at the end of the second week of classes.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a current PSU student, registered for 3 or more credits for the corresponding academic term
  • Must have a valid PSU photo ID - if you do not have a PSU photo ID, please contact ID Card Services. The FlexPass is a decal we attach to your ID, so you will need to have it with you at the time of purchase
  • Must agree to the terms and conditions of the FlexPass program. Unfortunately, the FlexPass cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded, even in the event the pass is lost or stolen
  • Purchasing options: cash, Visa/Mastercard/Discover, or billing to your student account

NOTE: If you're receiving financial aid, you don't need to wait for your aid to arrive in order to bill the FlexPass to your student account.

HOP Fastpass Pilot Program: PSU is currently piloting FlexPass integration with the TriMet Hop Fastpass, a new card-based electronic fare system. The pilot program is restricted to students already participating.
