Public transit is the most popular mode of transportation for PSU students and employees.

Spring Term Viking Pass sales have concluded.
Summer term passes begin online June 1st.

TriMet Reduced Fare Program

Get access to 50% off TriMet single use tickets and day passes, and 72% off monthly passes by joining the TriMet Reduced Fare Program. Individuals with an annual income at or below $24,980 can qualify. Similarly, a family of four with an income of less than $51,500 will also qualify. Full details on program qualification can be found on the TriMet site.

2 1/2 hour tickets will then cost $1.25
Daily maximum: $2.50
Monthly maximum: $28.00
Yearly maximum: $308.00

TriMet is now able to verify your eligibility remotely on the TriMet website.

The Transportation & Parking Services office is currently closed but we will resume in-person verification when we reopen.

Student Viking Pass

Spring Term Viking Pass sales have concluded. Spring passes will be valid March 20th – June 30th.

Summer pass sales begin June 1st and will be sold for $150. Valid dates for the summer pass will be July 1st – September 30th.

Purchasing the Student Viking Pass will be done online. If you have already been issued a PSU Student Hop Card, there is no need to visit our office to purchase, simply complete the purchase online. If you do not yet have a PSU Student Hop Card, you may make your purchase online and visit our office to pick up your new PSU Student Hop Card.

**With campus being closed due to COVID-19, our office is closed and we will mail your Hop card to the address that you have on file with PSU.**

The Student Viking Pass can be used on TriMet & C-TRAN* systems throughout the region.

*valid on C-TRAN local systems only, not C-TRAN Express buses

Eligibility:

  • Must be a current PSU student, registered for 3 or more credits (1 credit for summer quarter) for the corresponding academic term
  • Must have a valid photo ID
  • Must agree to the terms and conditions of the Viking Pass program. Unfortunately, the Viking Pass cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded.
  • Purchasing options: cash, Visa/Mastercard/Discover, or billing to your student account
  • If your Hop card is lost, there is a $3 replacement charge

NOTE: If you're receiving financial aid, you don't need to wait for your aid to arrive in order to bill your Viking Pass to your student account. 

Universal Streetcar Access

Do you make most of your trips within the central city? Do you ride your bike to campus but like to use the Streetcar to go to Biology class at RLSB? Tired of the food carts on campus and want to hit up the culinary delights of downtown or the Pearl District?

Good news: you can ride the Portland Streetcar for free any time of day, any time of year. All you need is your PSU ID card!
