Portland State University is seeking a Director of Services for Students with Children

Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Student Life, the Director of Services for Students with Children oversees all aspects of the department’s activities in support of the Resource Center for Students with Children and the Little Vikings and Baby Vikings Childcare Centers.

The Director provides strategic leadership for the advocacy, resource, and educational programs, directly supervises three to four professional staff, and indirectly supports a total team of up to 20 professional and student staff. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive outreach strategies, student needs assessments, and program planning and assessment in order to establish and maintain best practices for serving PSU’s diverse student-parent needs.

The Director is responsible for leadership and oversight of Services for Students with Children and will coordinate with Financial Aid on any childcare subsidies or emergency funds that become available for students. The Director also serves as a leader and point person on campus for student-parent advocacy, resources, and referrals. The Director works closely with a variety of University administrators and faculty in strategic planning and the advancement of initiatives that promote and create a healthy and safe campus and a compelling learning environment for students to support PSU’s educational mission.

The Director leads community building efforts with internal and external constituents; works collaboratively with student leaders, faculty, staff, and community; engages in intentional educational and cultural programming focused on specific learning outcomes in order to contribute to the vision of the Division of Student Affairs and Portland State University.
