SUPPORT OUR WORK

Services for Students with Children offers integrated services to support Portland State University students working to complete their degrees while raising young children.  Through events, advocacy, peer mentorship, and subsidies. We hope to ensure that every student parent has the opportunity to complete their academic goals and provide a brighter future for themselves and their children. There are a number of ways you can support the SSWC!

Donate to our Hardship Fund

Consider investing in our emergency fund to support student parents.  For more info email sswc@pdx.edu or visit the SSWC Foundation Page.

We accept donations

Year-round we accept gently-used children's clothes and shoes. We accept clothing sizes from newborn to up to 12 years old.

Annually at the end of Winter term we hold a Shop for Free event where students can exchange or find "new to them" items. When cleaning out your closet or home, please consider donating your gently used clothing items or small handheld housewares (books, non-stuffed/fabric toys, office/school supplies, and more) at our resource center. For this event we typically start accepting donations starting and February, up until the day of the event. During this month we accept both children and adult sizes. For details on the event or to confirm we are accepting donations, please email us at sswc@pdx.edu or call (503) 725-9878.

Volunteer for Events

We have a number of events throughout the year that require time and talent from dedicated volunteers. Volunteers do not need to have any prior experience, but a genuine interest in engaging with children and families is required. Depending on the event, a one-time background check may be required unless the volunteer is a faculty or staff member of PSU and has already been screened.
