Where is the Reuse Room located on campus? We are located in Cramer Hall 180 (Campus Map). The Reuse Room is on the main floor just 20 steps through the glass doors between the Smith Memorial Student Union and Cramer Hall. |
When is the Reuse Room open? Hours are updated seasonally based on student availability. Check the SSC website or Instagram page for current term hours. The Reuse Room is closed during finals week, academic breaks (winter, spring, and summer), and all PSU-recognized holidays. |
What types of items are accepted for donation? We accept gently used school supplies (notebooks, pens, binders), office supplies, small home goods, organizers, sports equipment, craft materials, toys, games and small electronics. Check Instagram for periodic updates on priority items. |
Are there items that the Reuse Room does NOT accept, such as clothing or food? We do not accept food, bedding, furniture, large items, hazardous materials, broken items, dirty items, or liquids/toiletries. All items must be clean, safe, fully functional, and in good reusable condition. |
Is everything in the Reuse Room completely free? Yes! Everything available in the Reuse Room is 100% free. |
Do I need to donate an item in order to take something? No. You do not need to bring an item to take an item. Feel free to stop by and browse whenever we are open. |
Is there a limit on how many items I can take at one time? While specific limits may apply to certain items, there is generally no hard cap. Please practice community care and take only what you personally need so others can benefit as well. |
Where and how can I drop off my donations? You can drop off donations in Cramer Hall 180 during open hours. If the door is open while unattended, feel free to leave clean donations on the designated intake table. Please do not leave donations outside the Reuse Room when it is closed. |
Can someone help me transport large or heavy donations across campus? We can't assist with transporting large or heavy items. For large furniture or bulky equipment, please contact the Facilities Surplus Property Program. |
Does the Reuse Room host special events like clothing swaps or pop-up giveaways? Yes! The SSC hosts periodic pop-up swaps, repair workshops, and seasonal giveaways. Look for SSC events on Connect or follow the SSC Instagram page for event announcements. |
Does the Reuse Room accept clothing donations? We gladly accept clothing donations anytime! Since space is limited, clothes aren't displayed in the room itself and are only available to take during our pop-up swap events. |
How can students, staff, or faculty volunteer or get involved with running the room? We are currently updating our volunteer opportunities. If you're interested in getting involved, especially if you can commit to a regular weekly shift during open hours or help sort inventory in storage on Fridays, please email psussc@pdx.edu to discuss. |
Whom should I contact if I have questions, suggestions, or need assistance? Reach out to the Student Sustainability Center team at psussc@pdx.edu, or drop by the Reuse Room during open hours to speak with an SSC team member. |
