Noah Sharpsteen is the Department Manager in Philosophy, and the Interim Department Manager in Anthropology, Biology, and Geology. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department. His main philosophical interests include Analytic Philosophy, Logic, Reasoning, and Philosophy of Language. He most often teaches PHL 369U Philosophy of Sex & Love, PHL 320U Critical Thinking, PHL 201 Introduction to Philosophy, and PHL 324U Intro to Formal Logic I. He has also taught PHL 424/524 Epistemology, PHL 375U Food Ethics, PHL 308U Elementary Ethics, PHL 300U Philosophical Methods & Concepts, and PHL 370U Philosophy of Work & Leisure. Noah won the Portland State University John Eliot Allen Outstanding Teacher Award in 2018 and 2022. 

Noah's non-philosophical interests include books in mint condition, staring into the middle distance, rambling (in one sense and not the other), and talking to animals.
