Vulnerability, Maladaptation, the Next Decade of Adaptation Sciences

This presentation will provide an overview of how the concept of “vulnerability” has evolved within the human dimensions of climate change research. It will showcase emerging evidence for how climate, and broader, adaptation initiatives can inversely exacerbate climate-related vulnerabilities for communities. Building from recent theoretical and empirical contributions, the presentation will outline some key areas for future research inquiry into designing more effective, just, and sustainable adaptation solutions.
