Movie Madness Universtiy at PSU Presents "The Power of Camera Movement"

Monday October 20th 2025 7:00 PM - 7:00 PM

When freed of the tripod, the camera is capable of whisking the audience out of its seat and INTO the drama. Whether on a dolly, crane, Steadicam or handheld, the moving camera possesses the power of music - capable of operatic punch and poetic beauty.

In this two-hour lecture, we’ll discover the hows and whys behind the masters’ movements - from Scorsese, Hitchcock and Kubrick; to Kurosawa, Raimi and Spielberg.

This class will be taught by director-writer Jack Perez, a professor of film at USC, PCC, CCC, The NY Film Academy, and The Academy of Art in SF. He is also the creator of the popular YouTube Premium Channel, CINEFIX. Jack currently lives in Portland with his wife and 4 cats.

Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.

Please note: no food or beverage is permitted in the auditorium.
