Movie Madness University at PSU Presents "The WW2 Combat Film"

Monday May 18th 2026 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
A red-faced man with a helmet hunkers in a bunker open-mouthed
Location
Lincoln Hall Studio Theater, LH 115
Cost / Admission
$45 (General Public); $30 (Member); Free to PSU Students

Join us for an in-depth examination of the genre - from stirring and often-shocking propaganda programmers of the 1940s (meant to boost enlistment), and the gritty, emotional post-war realism provided by directors who’d served (John Ford, William Wellman, and Sam Fuller); to the bold experimental abstractions of Cornel Wilde and Terrence Malick, and the sweeping comic book adventures of the 60’s à la “Where Eagles Dare” and “The Guns of Navarone”.

This two hour class will be taught by director-writer Jack Perez, a professor of film at USC, PCC, CCC, The NY Film Academy, and The Academy of Art in SF. He is also the creator of the popular YouTube Premium Channel, CINEFIX. Jack currently lives in Portland with his wife and 4 cats.

Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.

PSU Students are free with valid student ID! Present ID at door for admission - no ticket needed.
