The camera is our window into the world of any film, and when intentionally employed, can reveal the point of view of a character. Join us for an in-depth breakdown of subjective filmmaking - i.e. seeing/experiencing a scene through the eyes of a character.

In this two-hour lecture class, we’ll examine an assortment of film clips to unpack the groundbreaking shooting/editing technique perfected by Alfred Hitchcock; used by Welles, Scorsese and the Coens; and explore how contemporary directors still use it today.

This class will be taught by director-writer Jack Perez, a professor of film at USC, PCC, CCC, The NY Film Academy, and The Academy of Art in SF. He is also the creator of the popular YouTube Premium Channel, CINEFIX. Jack currently lives in Portland with his wife and 4 cats.

Class will be held in room LH115 in Lincoln Hall, at 1620 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97201 on the Portland State University Campus.

Please note: no food or beverage is permitted in the auditorium.
