Study abroad programs can vary in both who organizes the program and how you study and experience life abroad. Use the information below to explore your options and find a program that fits your academic goals, interests, and schedule.
Program Types
Faculty-Led Programs
Travel with PSU faculty and fellow students for 1–8 weeks of course-based, immersive learning. These programs are a great way to explore another country while staying connected to a PSU course and cohort.
Exchange & Direct Enroll Programs
Study abroad while remaining enrolled at PSU. Students on Exchange and Direct Enroll programs take courses at the host university and have the opportunity to learn alongside local and international students while experiencing university life abroad.
Third-Party Provider Programs
Study abroad through an independent education abroad organization that partners with universities and provides academic programming, housing, on-site support, and other services. Third-party providers offer a range of program models and locations, giving students flexibility in finding an experience that fits their goals.

Hybrid Programs
Combine coursework at a university abroad with structured learning and support through an overseas study center. Get the experience of studying abroad with a balance of independence and support.
Fully Integrated Programs
Enroll directly at a host university and take courses alongside local and international students. Experience university life abroad while becoming more immersed in the local academic and cultural environment.
Island Programs
Study through a structured program at an overseas study center, with opportunities to learn, live, and engage in the local community while receiving on-site support.
Internships Abroad
Build your résumé and gain hands-on professional experience in an international setting. Internship opportunities may range from part-time to full-time placements and can help you connect classroom learning to your career goals.
Other International Experiences
Group Travel
Travel with a PSU faculty- or staff-led group through a short-term, non-credit international experience. These programs offer an opportunity to explore a new place and engage with different cultures without enrolling in academic coursework.
