PSU community members from all majors and disciplines are warmly invited to share their research, scholarship, and art at a mini-conference on the topic of “Water and Society” this spring term!

The event will include food and prizes, along with a career panel with experts working with water from around the region, student presentations, and a chance to view artwork and posters.

Why water and society? Water includes many rich and complex social and environmental issues. We invite work from any discipline, including social sciences, natural/physical sciences, arts/humanities, and/or taking an interdisciplinary approach, to think about the connections between water and people. We encourage you to think about how water intersects with your research, art, and/or interests. We invite work that touches on themes including (but not limited to): cultural connections with water, meanings and importance of water, water futures, habitat and ecosystems, built environments, water engineering, water quality, water management and governance, water politics, and water science of any sort, with an emphasis on human connections.

Agenda:

1 - 2 pm: Panel - Careers in Water and Society
2 - 3 pm: Student research presentations
3 - 4 pm: Art, posters, networking, refreshments
