Below is a list of the minimal mathematics coursework required for individuals needing a Departmental Recommendation to enter the Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP) in Foundational and in Advanced Mathematics. GTEP is in the College of Education but these mathematics prerequisites are taken in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
All applicants to the Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP) must provide evidence of their content knowledge by completing these courses or their equivalent prior to applying to the GTEP program. Applicants must go through a transcript review process with the Foundational or Advanced Math Secondary Content Area Advisor who will determine their content knowledge and complete a Departmental Recommendation Form. Dr. Steve Boyce, sboyce@pdx.edu, is the GTEP Secondary Content Area Advisor for both Foundational and Advanced Math.
Visit the GTEP website for additional GTEP prerequisites and test requirements.
