Comer, world languages and literatures faculty, was honored by the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL), which named his article “Measured Words: Quantifying Vocabulary Exposure in Beginning Russian” (published in the Slavic and East European Journal in 2020) Best Article. Julia Freybote, business faculty, has been invited to join the editorial board of the Journal of Property Research, an international journal of research — particularly applied research — into property investment and development. The journal welcomes original papers on any area of real estate investment and development, and is published by Taylor & Francis. Shirley Jackson, sociology faculty, was featured on three Portland news segments on Jan. 18: “Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr ” on KATU-2’s Afternoon Live; “Local Thought Leaders on MLK’s Legacy” on KGW; and “Dr. Shirley Jackson discusses parallels between the Civil Rights Movement and 2020 protests” on KGW.
