What is Bring Your Kids to Campus Day?

PSU’s Bring Your Kids to Campus Day is a day-long, campus-wide celebration inviting students, staff, faculty, and their children to campus for events and activities.  As a non-instructional day for Portland Public Schools, it’s the perfect opportunity for PSU parents to spend the day with their children! When is Bring Your Kids to Campus Day?

The event is from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm on April 10, 2023. Check-in takes place at the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Smith Student Union.

Who may come to Bring Your Kids to Campus Day?

The event is open to all PSU students, staff, and faculty with children

How much does the event cost?

This event is free!

Is lunch provided?

Yes!  Lunch is provided for those who pre-register at https://bit.ly/BYKTCPSU. Lunch will be served from 12-1:00pm in the ballroom and you will receive lunch tickets when you check-in.

Why do I have to pre-register?

This helps us know how many attendees to expect and the ages of the children attending.  Pre-registering ensure that your kids receive a free backpack and lunch tickets.

Pre-registration is full!  May I still attend?

Of course! Registration opens at 9:30am at the Ballroom on the third floor of the Smith Student Union. You will need to show your PSU ID card when you arrive. Once you are registered you will get your instructions and program. After that, you are free to attend as many event stations as you wish.

What are the activities?

The full lineup of activities will be announced shortly. A sample of just some of the activities include:

  • School of Business: Test your skills with some “Minute to Win It” games and challenges! Visit the KMC for a scavenger hunt and the opportunity to win some great prizes!
  • Biology Department: Visit the Museum of Natural History exhibits, created by PSU students. This is your chance to see the Museum’s extensive collection and interact with birds, bugs, and bones.
  • Chemistry Dept: Watch some cool demonstrations and make your own slime!
  • Campus Rec Obstacle Course: Move, play, and bond with your kids during this action-packed event. Head to Campus Rec for an obstacle course and games on the courts and climbing on the indoor climbing wall.
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering: Visit for cool demonstrations with a fluids lab and check out the “Inverted Aquarium”.

I have class that day. Can I bring my kids with me?

If you are planning to bring your child(ren) to class with you, make sure to check in with your professor before doing so.

Can I bring a guest?

Absolutely!  Simply indicate on the pre-registration form who you are bringing with you.

 

Can I drop My Kid Off?

No, Parents must stay with their children for all activities.

I can’t attend for the whole day?  Can I just attend for a portion of it?

You are welcome to stay for the full day of activities or just an hour. Activities are scheduled in a very flexible, “drop-in” setting, so feel free to come and go as your schedule allows.

What are the age restrictions?

There are no age restrictions, however, keep in mind that it’s a long day with lots of walking.

Do my kids need a waiver to attend activities at Campus Rec?

To participate in any of the activities at Campus Rec, You will need to sign a waiver for yourself and your children. We highly suggest you do this in advance to minimize long lines.     Campus Rec will have a waiver registration table set up in the ballroom when you check-in.  Questions?
