SUB-BASEMENT (SB) (SMSU)

FALL 2026 — The public elevator to the sub-basement is offline for upgrades. For assistance in reaching the sub-basement by elevator, contact the Campus Events office (503-725-2663, meetings@pdx.edu) 8 to 5 Monday to Friday. After hours contact your sub-basement partner for access information. About the sub-basement: The sub-basement is accessible by a stairwell in the south end of Smith. It's near the tunnel to Fariborz Maseeh Hall. Only one elevator -- south elevator labeled EL7 -- goes to the sub-basement. The student media suite is PSU ID card access controlled.

BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL (B) (SMSU)

The basement is accessible by stairwells at the north and south end of Smith, the main elevators, the mezzanine elevator in the Broadway lobby and a stairway located west of the Broadway lobby as you head toward the center of the building. 

GROUND (G) FLOOR (SMSU)

You'll find exterior entrances to Smith on all four sides of the building. The ADA electronic access entrances are on the north side, facing Cramer Hall, and on the east at the SW Broadway entrance. You can also enter Smith through third-floor skybridges from Parking Structure 1, Parking Structure 2, Cramer Hall, Karl Miller Center and Fariborz Maseeh Hall. Skybridges are ADA accessible. Enclosed skybridges on the fourth floor and basement tunnels connect Smith to Cramer Hall and Fariborz Maseeh Hall.

SECOND (2) FLOOR (SMSU)

The second floor of Smith can be accessed by stairs and elevators. It features a study lounge on the Park Blocks side of the building, student cultural centers and meeting spaces. From the second floor, you can access the 1st Mezzanine by stairs.

Mezzanine 1 (SMSU)

Mezzanine floors are separate from the main floors in Smith. Access them through the mezzanine elevator or stairs in the Broadway lobby or through separate stairs on floors 2 and 3. Note: Orientation of this floorplan places Broadway at the top.

Mezzanine 2 (SMSU)

Mezzanine floors are separate from the main floors in Smith. Access them through the mezzanine elevator or stairs in the Broadway lobby or through the separate stairs on floors 2 and 3. Note: Orientation of this floorplan places Broadway at the top.

THIRD (3) FLOOR (SMSU)

Home of the Smith Ballroom and event spaces. Access the third floor through the skybridges from Parking Structure 1, Parking Structure 2, Cramer Hall, and Fariborz Maseeh Hall. Main elevators and stairs from the ground floor will also take you to events and meetings on the third floor.

Mezzanine 3 (SMSU)

Mezzanine floors are separate from the main floors in Smith. Access them through the mezzanine elevator or stairs in the Broadway lobby or through separate stairs on floors 2 and 3. Note: Orientation of this floor plan places Broadway at the top.

FOURTH (4) FLOOR (SMSU)

Resource centers such as the Basic Needs Hub and the Office of the Dean of Student Life are based on this floor. Access the fourth floor from Cramer Hall or Fariborz Maseeh Hall via enclosed skybridges. The main elevators and stairs also reach the fourth floor.

Restrooms in Smith

First floor — Men's room near center of building, across north-south hallway from bagel shop. Women's room near south stairwell. The south end of Smith is closest to the exit to FMH hall. Both have changing tables.

Second floor — Women's room in main north-south hall near north end, lactation room is adjacent. Men's room in east-west hallway at north end of building. The north end of Smith is closest to the exit to Cramer Hall.

1st Mezzanine — Two all-gender restrooms at north end. These are only accessible with a PSU ID badge.

Third Floor — Men's room is across from elevators at south end of north-south hallway. Women's room is at north end of ballroom in the north-south hall, changing table is located here and lactation room is adjacent. 

2nd Mezzanine — Across from the Office of Academic Innovation offices.

3rd Mezzanine — Two all-gender restrooms near south end past the elevator.

Fourth Floor — All-gender restroom at north end, near skybridge to Cramer. Men's room is near the south end of north-south hallway across from elevators.

Sub-basement — No restrooms

Basement — Men's and Women's rooms are at the south end of the floor near the Viking Gameroom. All-gender restroom is located at north end of floor near the tunnel to Cramer Hall. Another all-gender restroom is located in the hallway opposite the Office of Informational Technology offices.
