SOC 404: Internship
Open to juniors and seniors from all majors
By interning with a non-profit organization, you will gain valuable work experience, make professional connections, and apply the knowledge and skills you have been gaining through your courses!
What to expect from the internship
- Work for a local non-profit organization as an intern for a minimum of 8 hours per week for the 10 weeks of the term.
- Complete reading and writing assignments relating your internship experience to your coursework.
- Attend five in-person class meetings
- Participate in activities to prepare you for a career and/or graduate school (e.g. Resume or CV, cover letter, how to job search, interview practice)
Earn four credits (Sociology 404 or Psychology 404: Internship)
Process for applying
- If you would like to be matched with an organization, make an appointment to meet with internship coordinator Dr. Maura Kelly at calendly.com/maura-kelly (not needed if you have identified your own internship site).
- Read through the application form to learn about the information you will need from your proposed partner organization.
- Get in contact with your proposed partner organization to determine if it is a good fit and get the information needed to complete the application form.
- After confirming your placement with your supervisor at your partner organization and getting the needed information, complete the application form.
- Maura will confirm the placement with your internship supervisor then lift the restriction for you to register for the class and email you to let you know.
