Angela Kim

Lived Experience Committee Member

Angela Kim is a dedicated advocate for criminal justice reform, housing stability, health equity, and policies that center the voices of people directly impacted by incarceration, domestic violence, houselessness, and reentry. After serving 17.5 years in Oregon’s prison system, Angela experienced houselessness following her release and firsthand the challenges of rebuilding a life without stable housing after long-term incarceration.

A former critical care nurse, Angela now works in the legal field, where she draws upon both her professional background and lived experience to examine issues involving health care, conditions of confinement, and the treatment of incarcerated people. Her advocacy has expanded into criminal justice and health policy, reentry health care, domestic violence policy reform, and efforts to improve the systems people must navigate as they return to their communities.

Angela also serves on statewide committees and advisory groups where she works to ensure that people with lived experience have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their lives. Angela believes lived experience is a form of expertise and that effective solutions to houselessness must include the voices of people who have experienced it.
