Linda George's research and teaching interests involve the modeling and measurements of urban air pollutants and the intersection of environmental justice, gender and class as it influences policy in air quality and climate science. She started her academic career in 1984 as a doctoral student in the PSU Chemistry department. Over her career she has mentored nearly 30 graduate students, numerous undergraduates and several high school teachers in her interdisciplinary urban air pollution research program. 

Her collaborative research program has garnered external funding from the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, USAID, local agencies and several private foundations. She has been active in shared governance throughout her career, serving on many faculty senate leadership committees.  She has served as a Program Director for the National Science Foundation (Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences) as well as an Associate Editor for the journal "Science in the Total Environment". George received her B.S. in Chemistry from Loyola University of Chicago and her Ph.D. in Environmental Science/Chemistry from Portland State University.
