Each year Environmental Science & Management awards scholarships for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students.

The application deadline for all awards is April 1 each year.  To apply for ESM scholarships students must login to Scholarship Universe and search for the following awards. Edward D. and Olive C. Bushby Scholarship

The Bushby family established an endowment for the support of outstanding graduate and undergraduate students of Environmental Science and Management that have financial need.  Bushby Scholarships are awarded to support research, travel, or living expenses.  

Eligibility:
ESM MS or MEM students, EES PhD students advised by ESM faculty, and undergraduate environmental science and studies majors are all eligible and encouraged to apply.
Undergraduates must be a junior or senior full-time student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply. 
You must be an enrolled student in Fall 2025 (students who graduate Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 are not eligible).

Criteria: 
Bushby scholarships are awarded for students with (1) exceptional research plans, (2) plans to present research at scholarly and professional conferences, or (3) financial needs to support their academic pursuits.  For those seeking support for research or conference travel, provide a budget for your research or conference plans.  The use of these funds will also advance diversity, equity and inclusion through research and academic pursuits in the Environmental Science & Management graduate programs and undergraduate majors.  Please use the application prompts to indicate which of the 3 types of support you are seeking and how your unique experience promotes a diverse, equitable, and inclusive program of research or academic pursuits in Environmental Science and Management at PSU.  
 

The Paul Croy Environmental Scholarship

Named for a western educator and poet, the Paul Croy Scholarship in Environmental Studies was established to provide support to Undergraduate students who are pursuing academic and career goals related to preservation of the environment. 

Eligibility:
Undergraduate Environmental Studies majors are encouraged to apply.
You must be a junior or senior full-time student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply. 
You must be an enrolled student in Fall 2025 (students who graduate Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 are not eligible).

Criteria: 
This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student with career interests in the social and policy aspects of environmental protection and management.

The Barry Commoner Environmental Scholarship

Dr. Commoner is an internationally known environmental scientist, founder of the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems (Queen’s College), and a former candidate for president of the United States. The Commoner Environmental Scholarship was established to provide support to undergraduate students with academic and career interests in environmental science.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate Environmental Science students are encouraged to apply.
You must be a junior or senior full-time student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply. 
You must be an enrolled student in Fall 2025 (students who graduate Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 are not eligible).

Criteria:
This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student with academic and career interests in environmental science.
