EPP 225 – River Restoration Project Management

Course Summary: Course Summary: River restoration projects are complex, and many projects fail due to issues with funding and coordination.   In a climate of restricted funding, project management skills and principles are critical to maximizing project cost effectiveness.  In addition, restoration projects depend on collaboration between affected landowners, local governments, and key project partners. The collaborative nature of river restoration projects requires the cooperation of multiple parties at every phase of the project.

This course will use case studies to lead participants through project management principles from concept to closeout, providing methods to plan and deliver restoration projects. Instructors include representatives from governmental agencies, consulting firms, contractors, and nongovernmental organizations.  On the last day of the course, students will be expected to utilize the case studies to develop a presentation illustrating the methods they have learned in the course.
