Curriculum Committee

The Maseeh College Curriculum Committee reviews and approves any changes to curriculums and programs,  departmental admissions requirements for undergraduates, and transfer articulations.

Curriculum Management

All curriculum proposals, including new programs and courses, changes to existing programs and courses, and drop programs and courses, must be submitted through the Online Curriculum Management System (OCMS).  Proposals can be started by any faculty member but must be reviewed and approved by the departmental curriculum committee and the department chair for CS and ECE. Once the proposals are advanced by the departmental committees, the Maseeh College Curriculum Committee will review the proposals. Significant changes will be returned to the proposer for edits.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

The following are deadlines for when proposals must be advanced to the Maseeh College Curriculum Committee for review. Departmental deadlines may be earlier as these committees need to review first. Contact your representative on the college committee for more information.

  • October 14, 2023: Deadline for OCMS proposals for new degree programs (Bachelor, Master's, Doctoral) to be included in next academic year's PSU Bulletin.
  • January 12, 2024: Deadline for OCMS proposals changes to existing programs, course changes, new courses, new certificates, and new minors to be included in the next academic year's PSU Bulletin.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Admission to Major

The Maseeh College uses the curriculum process to manage changes to the policies that are published for admission to the majors. This process helps to ensure that our students (especially transfer students)  are best able to plan for the admission process. The Maseeh College requires that:

  • Department admission requirements are only published in the PSU Bulletin.
  • Any proposed changes are reviewed by the Maseeh College Curriculum Committee
  • Changes need to be communicated to our community college partners in a timely manner.

Transfer Articulation Management

The Maseeh College uses the curriculum process to manage the transfer articulations shown on the MCECS Transfer Guides and in the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS).  Communication with the respective community colleges is part of the process and ensures that transfer students can plan their curriculum with confidence. A student who completes a course at the community college during the time of active equivalency will receive the substitution. MCECS Transfer Guides are maintained and monitored with the following colleges:

  • Chemeketa Community College
  • Clackamas Community College
  • Clark (WA) Community College
  • Mt Hood Community College
  • Portland Community College.

Departments who want to ADD, DROP, or MODIFY a transfer articulation should complete the related form. These can be submitted at any time, but the term of implementation may be delayed to minimize impacts to students in the pipeline.  After completing the form, submit it to MCECS Curriculum Committee Chair & Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. All proposed changes will be reviewed by the Director of the Engineering, Computer Science, Math & Physics Pathway to ensure advising continuity. If the articulation ADD/DROP/MODIFY impacts more than one department, the MCECS Curriculum Committee will approve; otherwise, only the ADAA needs to approve.
