Institute for Economics and the Environment
The Institute for Economics and the Environment (IEE) at Portland State University serves as a locus for investigation, discussion and training where the economy and the environment meet.
The Forest Collaborative (FC) is a part of the Environment for Development (EfD) Initiative, which is a fifteen-country program with its secretariat at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Portland State is an affiliate EfD center. EfD contributes to effective management of the environment in the Global South through policy-relevant research, capacity development and policy engagement.
The FC is a community of policy-oriented researchers and key stakeholders with research interests related to forest issues in developing countries and the goal to increase the quality and quantity of forest-related EfD research. The Forest Collaborative organizes joint projects, meetings and workshops that develop and support its network of researchers. Among the outputs of the Forest Collaborative are peer-reviewed journal articles, research working papers, policy briefs and presentations,.
EfD centers are hosted by leading local academic research institutions in 15 countries across the world: in Chile, China, Colombia, Central America, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Sweden, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, USA and Vietnam.
