PSU's Education Abroad Office connects PSU students, faculty, and staff with enriching, credit-bearing international opportunities across a diverse range of programs. Whether you're seeking a short-term adventure or a full academic year abroad, our offerings span from 10 days to a full year and across 40 countries.

Find a prestigious fellowship to fund your international studies, teaching or research. The Office of International Affairs guides students and faculty through the application process for three main fellowships: Fulbright, Boren & Critical Language Scholarship (CLS). 

The Office of International partnerships maintains and creates active and strategic partnerships between Portland State and institutions of higher learning all over the world, ensuring all international contracts and agreements are created, executed, and managed properly. 

International Special Programs offers a variety of ESL (English as a Second Language) based experiential programs to international participants and professional groups.  

The Institute for Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary, administrative unit connecting over 70 faculty and academic professionals, across more than 30 departmental units. the Institute promotes knowledge and understanding about Asia via curricular development, research, scholarship, community outreach, and international engagement.

MESC is an integral part of Middle East Studies at PSU. MESC organizes lectures and public events to bring faculty and students from numerous departments and disciplines together with the community to focus on the cultural, economic, political, and societal aspects of the region. 

The Portland Center offers a 3 to 12-month academic study abroad program at Portland State University, allowing students to take college-level courses without meeting PSU’s minimum English language proficiency requirement. Students may register for up to 16 credits including a required Academic English course tailored to their needs.

Portland State University hosts international researchers, professors and special guests from around the world throughout the year on a J-1 visa. Our International scholar and faculty advisor also works with academic departments and the Office of Academic Affairs in assisting departments in the hiring of international employees.

The Office of International Students and Scholar Services provides immigration, academic, and student life support to the university's F and J-1 international students.
