  1. Alissa Hartig, applied linguistics faculty, is the recipient of the Deborah Hecht Memorial Writing award for 2022 for the article, “Not All Errors Are Created Equal: Tailoring Feedback to Meet Student Needs.”
  2. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty and president of the Pacific Sociological Association, is hosting a conference titled, “’We Will Do Better’ and Other Myths: Social Institutions and the Maintenance of Oppression.”
  3. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was the presider for the panel on the edited volume, “Impacts of Racism on White Americans in the Age of Trump” by co-editors Duke Austin and Benjamin Bowser at the Pacific Sociological Association meetings in Sacramento, California.
  4. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was interviewed by KGW-Channel 8 on April 7 about the significance of the confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.
  5. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was the presider for the panel “Sociology in a Divided Democracy” at the Pacific Sociological Association meetings in Sacramento, California on April 7.
  6. Jennifer Ruth, film faculty, was interviewed for a May 6 article in Inside Higher Ed about a book she co-wrote called, “It’s Not Free Speech: Race, Democracy and the Future of American Freedom.” 
  7. Marta Stelmaszak Rosa, business faculty, has been appointed as a member of the Early Career Editorial Board at the Journal of Strategic Information Systems. 
  8. Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, was elected director of PSU’s Institute of Asian Studies for 2022-2025.
  9. Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, served as a session organizer for “Experiences of Asian Americans” at the Annual Meetings of Pacific Sociological Association on April 8.
  10. Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, served as a session organizer for “Persisting Issues in Japan” at the Annual Meetings of Pacific Sociological Association on April 8.
