The Advising & Career Services (ACS) division values the diverse students and alumni of Portland State University. As professionals, we are student-centered and approach our work with empathy. We are a community of learners who strive to be iterative in our work so that we can serve current and future PSU students and alumni. We have respect for the potential of human beings to learn and thrive, and we are committed to promoting access and equity in higher education. To do so, we are committed to ongoing work towards social justice, racial justice, being anti-racist and our own anti-racist development.
We are committed to providing quality, holistic advising services that meet each student’s unique needs in an environment that supports student recruitment, retention, and success. We work to maintain and foster a space that encourages exploration, and help students investigate the connections between major and career.
As a division, we respect our colleagues across the university, and actively develop partnerships with community college and local universities/college partners. We value collaboration and strong relationships with departments and other units on campus, with whom we work to support students holistically.
