Do you want your voice to be heard as a Veteran or military-affiliated student at PSU? Or want to assist Veterans and military-affiliated students as a student, staff, faculty, alumni, or community member? The Veterans Resource Center Advisory Board is a great place to get involved in support of the Veteran and Military-affiliated community.
The mission of the Veterans Resource Center Advisory Board (VRCAB) is here to support the mission and vision of the Portland State University Veterans Resource Center (PSU VRC) and to help shape long-term goals of the VRC. The VRCAB acts as a resource to advise the VRC on how to connect to the students that they serve. It also advises development of specific programs to facilitate Veterans’ transition from military service and their successful integration into higher education at PSU. The VRCAB also facilitates the partnership and communications between the VRC, community, and PSU veteran-specific resources to support student-veterans. Lastly, the VRCAB advises and reviews the VRC budget for transparency and accuracy within the stated goals of the VRC and ensure consistency with university guidelines.
The VRCAB holds a public forum the first Friday of every month of the traditional school year from 10:00am to 11:00am. During these sessions, the board will discuss the current agenda, listing to existing board concerns, and vote on motions, if needed.
All students at PSU are free to attend without commitment, or if students want to be more involved and a voting member, they can apply to a board member position. We suggest any student interested in being on the VRCAB attend a few sessions to see what the board process is like before applying. Any student or member wanting to be on the board as a chair must be nominated and voted into that chair position.
