Service Description

Gemini is Google’s generative AI tool. You can engage in dialog with Gemini through a chat interface or through the NotebookLM service. Additional add-ons for faculty and staff (available for purchase) enable more Gemini features such as integrations with Google Workspace tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Service Details

• Gemini: allows use of Gemini via chat.
• Google AI Pro for Education Add-On (purchase required): Allows use of Gemini via chat and through integration with existing Workspace tools. Provides access to Google’s most advanced AI models.

To ensure you are meeting applicable policies, standards, and best practices related to your work as a student or employee at PSU, please review the Artificial Intelligence at Portland State University and Generative AI Resources pages prior to use. 

Gemini is governed by the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service and is suitable for data that would otherwise be appropriate to store in Google Drive. Google does not use data entered on pdx.edu accounts to train the large language model (LLM) or for human review.

Availability

This service is available to the following groups:

• Students
• Faculty
• Staff

Gemini is available to everyone at PSU. The Google AI Pro for Education add-ons is available to faculty and staff for a monthly fee.

Charges and Fees

• Gemini: free of charge
• Google AI Pro for Education add-on: $16 per licensed user per month (1 year commitment required)
