Graduate Groups:

Psychology Graduate Student Association (PGSA)

The Psychology Graduate Student Association (PGSA) is a student group comprised of psychology graduate students at Portland State University. The PGSA is designed to meet several functions:

  • Provide a line of communication with the Psychology Department Faculty.
  • Support graduate students in reaching their goals.
  • Educate graduate students regarding issues affecting them.
  • Network, creating valuable ties to the community.

All graduate students in the Department of Psychology are automatically members of PGSA.

FLIOP (Future Leaders of Industrial-Organizational Psychology)

Future Leaders in Industrial and Organizational Psychology's mission is to promote undergraduate and graduate students' understanding and involvement within the field of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. FLIOP focuses on providing opportunities for PSU students to share ideas and information with one another and the greater Portland area I/O psychology community. It provides learning opportunities for members to expand their knowledge and improve their professional skills through networking and social gatherings, club-sponsored colloquiums, and participation in industry conferences. FLIOP will serve to increase the visibility of the I/O psychology field within the Portland State University community.

Neuroscience Club

The Neuroscience Club at Portland State University is a diverse group of people that are very curious about how the brain inspires behavior, cognition, and reality. Our educational backgrounds vary greatly and we find this to be a unique property of our club. There are no prerequisites required to appreciate the wonders that the field of neuroscience offers!

Our events aim to educate our community about neuroscience, including (but certainly not limited to) aspects of mental health, diversity, neurogenetics, neurological illness, drugs + the brain, and what potential careers in neuroscience look like. Everyone is welcome to attend our events, both PSU students and the public alike! Our events include discussions on peer-reviewed literature, game nights, neuroscience-related movie nights, neuroscientist and neurologist guest speakers, sheep brain dissections, arts & crafts night, and more!

If you are interested in joining or learning more about the PSU Neuroscience Club then please subscribe to our weekly newsletter about events that are happening by emailing neuro@pdx.edu and requesting to join our mailing list! Additionally, you can also reach out directly to our club president, Alisha Steigerwald, at steiger2@pdx.edu for more information or any general questions.
