Are courses in person or online?
Public certificate programs are delivered virtually with live instructor and student interaction.
How do I access materials?
CEPE uses Canvas as the online learning platform for all courses. Each course’s Canvas page houses the course assignments, lecture slides, and additional resources. A day before the course begins, students will receive an email invitation to the course’s Canvas page.
What happens if I drop a course?
Please see our Course Withdrawal and Refund Policy for full details.
Can I transfer courses?
You may request a course transfer up to three days before the start of your registered course. To initiate a transfer, please reach out to learn@pdx.edu.
What happens if I have to miss course time in a course?
Please contact cepe.certificates@pdx.edu for the policy in your specific course. Generally, you must make up missed time if it exceeds 20% of the course time in order to successfully complete the course. You can make up time in a future offering if necessary.
How many courses do I need to take to complete my certificate?
The number of courses per certificate varies. Please visit individual program pages for detailed information.
How long do I have to complete my certificate program?
CEPE aspires to allow students up to 3 years to complete a certificate program, however, CEPE's program offerings can fluctuate due to market/community demand. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel or revise a program at any time. This means that CEPE does not guarantee the completion of any certificate, so if certificate completion is a student's goal, we encourage completion as quickly as possible when courses are available.
Is the Project Management certificate the same as the PMP® certification?
CEPE’s certificate is from Portland State University. The PMP® certification is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is an internationally recognized certification for those who have work experience as a project manager, have completed training hour requirements (our courses count towards this requirement), and have passed the rigorous PMP® exam. However, we do offer a PMP Exam Prep course to get students ready for the exam.
Will the Project Management certificate help me get my PMP® certification?
Completion of CEPE’s Project Management certificate does meet the requirements for the PMP’s 35-hour professional project management education requirement.
Can I use the Human Resource Management courses for my HRCI recertification credits?
Yes. CEPE is an HRCI-Authorized Provider and SHRM Approved Provider certified by the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management to provide continuing education courses for PHR/aPHR and SPHR recertification credits. Each CEPE HR course is worth 15 credits.
