Something about me: I am from Chicago where I attended public schools. I am an honors graduate of St. John's College (the "Great Books" program) and a graduate and CGU Fellow of The Claremont Graduate University (Philosophy, 1981).  I also did graduate work at Paris-Sorbonne and at The Ruprecht-Karls Universität in Heidelberg.

I have been teaching since 1981, mainly in Philosophy, but also Comparative Religion, History, Mathematics, Greek, Latin, and various seminar courses.  Colleges and universities where I have taught or lectured include Claremont Graduate School, The University of California/Irvine, the Venice Community Adult School, the Business Ethics Forum/Los Angeles, West Coast University, Woodbury University, Bassist College, The Art Institute of Portland, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Los Angeles, Pomona College, Pacific Northwest College of Art, The University of Montana, George Fox University and, since 2013, Portland State University.

I am an associate faculty member at the Existential Psychoanalytic Institute (EPIS worldwide).

In addition to teaching, I have also worked as a construction worker, editor, academic counselor, academic department chair, dean, ombudsman, corporate vice-president and accreditation liaison officer; I have been a precinct worker and precinct chair for several political campaigns; I helped found an art college and served as its president for 15 years.
