  1. Jenny Ceciliano, world languages and literatures, delivered the keynote speech “OER (Open Educational Resources) in University Language Courses” at the faculty retreat for the Institute of World Languages at the University of Virginia and led the subsequent workshop, “From Ideas to Deliverables” on May 6.
  2. Bennett Gilbert, university studies, presented “The Case of Lord O.: On the History of a Gesture,” to be read at the fourth International Network for the Theory of History Conference in late April in Puebla, Mexico. 
  3. Maurice Hamington, philosophy and women, gender, and sexuality studies faculty, delivered the presentation, “Care and Precarity” on May 3 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
  4. Kathi Inman Berens, English faculty, presented a guest lecture at the University of Central Florida Texts and Technology Ph.D. Program, “Electronic Literature 2022: the Mexicana Feminists of BrokenEnglish.lol.”
  5. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was part of the panel, “Surviving and Thriving in the Job Market as an Ethnic Studies and Interdisciplinary Scholar” at the Pacific Sociological Association meetings in Sacramento, California on April 8.
  6. Kimberly Kahn, psychology faculty, gave a distinguished lecture at the Western Psychological Conference earlier this spring titled, “Understanding and Counteracting Racial Bias in Policing.”
  7. Nick Light, business faculty, presented “Consumer Judgments of Product Complexity, Risk, and Performance” at the Society for Judgment and Decision Making annual conference on Feb. 11.
  8. Aaron Roussell, sociology faculty, presented “Academic Freedom and Faculty Protection: Orienting, Preparing, and Organizing in a Reactionist Era” at the Association of College and Research Libraries, Oregon, webinar on April 28.
  9. Marta Stelmaszak Rosa, business faculty, was part of the online panel “Unpacking the Inner Workings of a Platform: How do Algorithms and Data Shape Competition Among Participants?” as part of the Digital Markets Competition Forum at the Copenhagen Business School on April 27. 
  10. Eva Thanheiser, mathematics and statistics faculty, co-presented “Connecting Math to the Real World,” part of the 2022 Stem For All Video Showcase from May 10-17.

  12. Dilafruz Williams, education faculty, was invited to give a keynote address titled “Regenerative Hope: Collective Environmental Action and Agency,” at the Environmental Literacy Summit in Santa Clara County, California, on April 30.
  13. Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, co-presented “Solitary Deaths in South Korea: Exploring Individuals and Contextual Patterns” at the annual meeting of the Population Association of America in Atlanta in early April.
