AI Art Contest

We are looking to decorate the space in front of the Philosophy Department, and we'd like your help! We're hosting a student art contest to assist in that end.

To participate, create an AI image that brings to life a famous turn of phrase, metaphor, example, thought experiment, or the like from a philosophical text. Free AI art software -- such as MidjourneyDALL-E 2, and Stable Diffusion -- can help to quickly and often quite stunningly realize whatever you're able to dream up. Take a look at the banner on our homepage for an example of "nonsense on stilts", a charge that Jeremy Bentham leveled against the notion of natural rights.

Send your submission, along with a brief title and description of what the image is intended to represent, to nesharps@pdx.edu by April 28th, 2023. Contest winners will receive a monetary reward and their work will be displayed in the Philosophy Department hallway. Once the installation is complete, another prize goes to the first student that correctly identifies the source material of all selected images in the display.
